The
United Service Organizations (USO) Council
of Georgia has selected Sunny K.
Park of Atlanta, Georgia, as winner
of its 2002 USO Patriot Award. The Award, which is the
most prestigious honor granted by USO, will be presented Monday,
April 29, at 11:30 A.M., at the annual Armed Forces Luncheon to
be held at the Cobb Galleria Convention Center, Cobb County, Georgia.
Mr. Park, 59, has been involved with the USO as a volunteer for
more than 10 years and has been an asset to the USO in supporting
its activities. He also funded for the building of the Georgia
Korean War Veterans Memorial at the Georgia Capitol, in memory
of the 740 Georgians killed in the Korean War. Mr. Park immigrated
to the United States in 1974 from South Korea.
Mr. Park is CEO of General Building Maintenance, Inc., a building
maintenance provider. He presently serves as a commissioner of
the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders,
a member of the Business Executives for National Security (BENS),
a member of the Board of Governors of the Georgia Public Policy
Foundation, a member of the Board of Visitors of Berry College
and a Board member of Atlanta College of Art. He found Good Neighboring
Foundation, an image improvement effort for Asian American immigrant
community and campaigns nationally.
Mr. Park is married to Kay Park, also of Atlanta, and is the father
of Kathy Park, public relations manager for the New York Times,
and Jimmy Park, a plastic engraver living in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
